An American content creator made an elderly pen seller's day in Delhi's Connaught Place after he stopped to buy from her and ended up handing over all the cash he had left in his pocket, a gesture that has won praise online.

The video was shared on Instagram by American content creator Steve Yalo, who often documents his travels and interactions with locals around the world.

In the clip, Yalo noticed the elderly woman trying to sell pens on the street and remarked that no one seemed to be buying from her. Approaching her with a smile, he complimented her cheerful demeanour before asking the price of the pens. Although the woman appeared unable to speak English, she told him the pens cost Rs 50 each.

Yalo initially handed over Rs 100 and took two pens. Moments later, touched by her warm smile and positive energy, he offered another Rs 100 in exchange for two more pens. When he realised she still had several pens left, he began counting them, estimating that the entire stock would cost around Rs 900.

However, after checking his wallet, he found that he only had Rs 550 left. Instead of keeping the money for himself, he handed over the entire amount to the woman, telling her he hoped she would manage to sell all her pens. Despite giving her the money, he only took two pens with him and wished her a good day before walking away.

Throughout the interaction, the elderly vendor could be seen smiling and speaking to him in Hindi, while Yalo admitted that he would later translate what she had said.

Several users also pointed out that beyond the money itself, the American content creator had given the vendor something equally valuable: dignity, attention and a few moments of genuine human connection, adding that such small acts of kindness can leave a lasting impact on people's lives.

The video has since spread widely on social media, with viewers praising the encounter for its simplicity and warmth.
