Woman travelling in Mumbai local at 12:30 am shares why she doesn't feel unsafe
In an Instagram video, a woman described feeling at ease while moving around Mumbai after midnight. Her remarks sparked a wider conversation on women's safety, public transport and the city's late-night atmosphere.

A woman shared the one reason she believes Mumbai feels different from most Indian cities, saying it is one of the few places where she doesn't feel anxious about being out alone late at night.
The video was shared on Instagram by user Aditi Thakur, who reflected on her experience of moving around Mumbai after midnight and why the city's atmosphere stood out to her.
In the clip, she showed glimpses of Mumbai at night, including its roads, illuminated streets and a local train station. Standing at Marine Lines station around 12:30 am, she pointed out the presence of police personnel nearby and said that, despite the late hour, she did not feel scared.
She added that women in Mumbai could often be seen travelling or walking around at night without fear, something she felt was uncommon in many other cities, where women might avoid stepping out after dark or take extra precautions.
She concluded by saying she finally understood why Mumbai is often referred to as the "City of Dreams" and expressed her love for the city.

The video prompted a wave of responses from social media users, many of whom echoed her observations. Several people described Mumbai as one of the safest cities in India for women, saying they had experienced the same sense of security while travelling late at night.
Others pointed out that the city's active nightlife, busy public transport network and constant movement of people contribute to that feeling, with one user remarking that they would still feel safe even if police officers were not visibly present.
At the same time, a few users noted that while Mumbai has earned a reputation for being comparatively safer than many other cities, remaining alert and taking basic precautions is important regardless of where one is.
