Video: Pro-Kannada outfit tears down signboard over alleged Hindi imposition

Members of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) removed a Hindi signboard at Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) Circle in Bengaluru, alleging it had been installed illegally and symbolised Hindi imposition in Karnataka. The pro-Kannada group claimed the signboard, located on a public road near the BEL campus, lacked authorisation and questioned why it was placed outside the premises. Police intervened as KRV activists vandalised the signboard during the protest, which came amid renewed opposition to the use of Hindi on public signboards in the state. KRV state president TA Narayana Gowda said the organisation would strongly oppose any attempt to impose Hindi in Karnataka, asserting that the outfit would resist such moves regardless of the form in which they were introduced.

Caught on CCTV: Van loses control, rams into bikes, overturns on Bengaluru road

One person was killed, and three others were injured after a Maruti Eeco van went out of control and rammed two motorbikes from behind before rolling over onto its side in Bengaluru. The accident occurred around 6.45 am on Saturday. The person who lost his life has been identified as 45-year-old Sukhdev, who was travelling in the four-wheeler. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital and are said to be out of danger. In a CCTV footage of the accident, one of the injured motorcyclists, along with bystanders, was seen rushing to help a man who got trapped under the overturned car. Traffic police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. The preliminary probe is focused on whether speeding or negligent driving led to the accident.

Video: Biker blocks car, vandalises it and abuses techie in Bengaluru road rage

A motorcyclist allegedly abused, threatened and vandalised a car driven by Aditya, who was on his way to work from Nelamangala to Manyata Tech Park. What reportedly began as a minor traffic-related issue soon escalated when the biker allegedly blocked the car, broke one of its mirrors, damaged parts of the vehicle and hurled abuses using obscene language. The Madanayakanahalli police have registered a case and launched an investigation. Authorities have urged motorists to remain calm and avoid confrontations on the road.

Pro-Kannada activists vandalise online gaming firm in Bengaluru over alleged betting

Pro-Kannada activists from the Namma Karnataka Sene group stormed and vandalised an online gaming company in Bengaluru's Koramangala area. The group targeted the Golden Aces Poker Room, destroying furniture and property while online betting games were reportedly underway, causing customers to flee. The activists alleged the company was operating illegally, citing a ban on online gaming. A reporter at the scene noted, "despite the ban which has been imposed, these guys are operating illegally in Koramangala office and the pro-kanda activists who got this particular information immediately rushed to the spot". Following the raid, police registered cases against the company for the alleged illegal gaming and against the activists for taking the law into their own hands. An investigation into the matter is now underway.

A 22-year-old B.Com student, Dhanushree, was killed in a road accident in Bengaluru on Monday morning. The incident has sparked a debate over the cause, with the DCP Whitefield calling it a hit-and-run case, stating the tipper lorry driver fled the scene. However, the JDS party and eyewitnesses allege the tragedy was a result of poor road conditions. Eyewitnesses claim Dhanushree was trying to avoid a large pothole on Bipinali main road when she was hit by the lorry. One account states, "she was trying to avoid a pothole but the vehicle was from the opposite direction."
