Rajasthan man catches married sister with lover, then helps her thrash, kill him

A 45-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by a married woman and her brother over a suspected illicit relationship in Rajasthan's Nagaur district.

The investigators also found signs of torture on his private parts.

The accused, identified as Monika (30) and her brother, Shrawanram Meghwal (25), were arrested within 12 hours of the case being registered.

The victim, Sheraram, was found dead inside a dhani (farm dwelling), where he used to reside, on Friday, August 28, the day of Raksha Bandhan.

The police were alerted by the villagers around 8 pm after they noticed a foul smell emanating from the farm dwelling. A police team reached the spot and found Sheraram's body inside the room. While the door was closed from the inside, the window was open.

Police said injuries were found on various parts of the victim's body. An FIR was registered, and a probe was initiated.

The case was initially treated as a 'blind murder,' which refers to a case that lacks immediate witnesses, clear motives, or obvious suspects.

However, as the investigation progressed, the findings pointed towards the possible involvement of Monika and Shrawanram.

During the preliminary investigation, police found that Sheraram had been living alone at the farm for around six years, while his wife and children were staying at her parental home.

Police suspect the killing was linked to his purported extramarital affair with Monika.

According to the police, the woman was brought to the village by her brother on August 27, a day before the murder came to light.

Monika allegedly went to Sheraram's farm dwelling, where the two consumed liquor. They were later caught in an objectionable position by Shrawanram.

Enraged by the scene, he, along with his sister, Sheraram's legs with a rope, the police claimed. After that, they allegedly kept thrashing him using a wooden stick, and kicked and punched him repeatedly.

The physical assault resulted in fatal injuries.

Technical analysis, field intelligence and circumstantial evidence helped police identify and arrest the two accused, local Superintendent of Police, Asharam Choudhary, said.

Police also said Monika had previously lodged a case of assault against her husband at a police station.
