4 rescued from Madhya Pradesh's multi-storey building after massive fire breaks out
A major fire broke out in multi-storey building in Satna, and two children were rescued. Firefighters, police and local teams remained at Kamta Tola as the cause and damage were yet to be established.
A massive fire broke out in a multi-storey building in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna on Friday, trapping four people inside. The group included the lady of the house, a domestic helper and two girls. While the woman and domestic helper were on the lower floors, the two girls were trapped on the fourth floor and were rescued with the help of local residents and the fire brigade. All four people were safely evacuated, and no injuries or casualties were reported.
The two children were taken to the district hospital as a precautionary measure and are safe. No injuries or loss of life were reported in the incident. The blaze was brought under control after firefighting operations involving around 18 fire tenders.
The fire broke out in the building owned by Ramnaresh Gupta in the Kamta Tola area of Satna. Eleven family members live in the house, though only four people were present when the fire broke out.
FIRE BREAKS OUT ON FOURTH FLOOR
According to officials, the fire broke out on the fourth floor of the multi-storey building. The cause of the blaze has not yet been ascertained. An AC compressor burst is suspected to have triggered the fire, while the building owner said a short circuit was also suspected.
The fire spread rapidly, causing panic in the locality. Locals joined the rescue efforts as the fire brigade and SDRF teams reached the spot.
SDM Rahul Siladhiya said the administration received information from local residents at around 1.05 pm. Three Municipal Corporation fire tenders initially reached the spot and firefighting operations began immediately.
Two people trapped inside were rescued with the help of local residents and taken to the district hospital in a Tehsildar's vehicle for preliminary medical examination.
WALLS DEVELOP CRACKS DUE TO INTENSE HEAT
The intensity of the fire caused cracks to appear in the building's walls, raising concerns about the safety of the structure.
Officials said people were asked to move away from the area because of the heat and the risk associated with the damaged walls. Building officials and civil engineers will inspect the cracks to assess the condition of the structure and prevent any further accidents.
The fire brigade initially deployed around three vehicles, with two or three more arriving later. As the water supply in the vehicles was exhausted, additional fire tenders continued to arrive. A hydraulic platform, or lifter, was also brought in during the operation.
The district administration advised people not to enter the building until it had cooled down completely.
FIRE BROUGHT UNDER CONTROL
CSP Devendra Pratap Singh Chauhan said no one was injured in the incident. He said the two girls rescued from inside the building were shaken by the incident and were sent to the hospital for treatment.
Police personnel remained at the spot to assist with the firefighting operation, including managing the fire tender drivers and pumps.
The entire administrative team, including personnel from Kotwali police, also reached the spot as the rescue and firefighting operation continued.
The fire caused damage worth lakhs of rupees on the fourth floor, according to the information available so far. Officials said the cause of the fire will be investigated after the building is safe to enter.
Building owner Ramnaresh Gupta said the family initially suspected a cylinder explosion, but that was ruled out. He later said a short circuit was suspected to be the possible cause of the fire.
The administration is now carrying out the necessary follow-up measures, including an inspection of the building's cracked walls, before allowing entry into the premises.
