Pune exam aspirant assaulted, kidnapped for talking with accused's girlfriend
An MPSC aspirant was assaulted and kidnapped after being confronted over his contact with an accused man's girlfriend. CCTV footage and technical tracking helped police rescue him within hours and arrest two suspects.
A 28-year-old man preparing for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) examinations was assaulted and kidnapped in Pune by a group of men for keeping contact with the girlfriend of one of the accused, police said on Thursday. Two accused have been arrested, while police are searching for two others.
The man, identified as Prasad Suryawanshi, was standing near Chimnya Maruti Chowk on Thursday when the men arrived in a car and confronted him. The accused, Sagar Ramesh Borade (32), who is a hotel owner, questioned him about his communication with the woman, assaulted him and forcibly took him into a black SUV.
According to police, the woman was in regular contact with both Suryawanshi and Borade, who is reportedly her boyfriend. After learning about their conversations, Borade became angry and, along with his friends, planned the kidnapping.
The probe revealed that the accused had driven towards the Sinhagad Road area. Police subsequently laid a trap and intercepted the vehicle, rescuing Suryawanshi safely within a few hours of his kidnapping. They subsequently arrested the two accused.
"The incident took place over the issue of him talking to a girl, who is a friend of one of the accused. Two accused have been arrested and the search for two others is underway. The girl and the kidnapped man are preparing for MPSC," Vishrambaug police station's senior inspector Navnath Jagtap told PTI.
The arrested persons have been identified as Borade (32), a hotel owner in Pune, and Kishor Balasaheb Sawant (32), a resident of Dasur in Solapur district, the police said.
