However, there is no single holiday calendar followed by every school. State boards, CBSE, ICSE and individual schools may follow different schedules. Students and parents should therefore check their school's latest academic calendar before planning around a holiday.

SEPTEMBER'S BIG FESTIVAL BREAKS
Janmashtami on September 4 will be observed as a school holiday in several states and regions. The festival marks the birth of Lord Krishna.
Ganesh Chaturthi on September 14 will bring a holiday to schools in several western and southern states. Maharashtra schools may have additional days off around Ganesh Chaturthi and Ganesh Visarjan, depending on their individual calendars.
Gujarat will also have holidays around Samvatsari, while Bihar and Assam may observe Vishwakarma Puja.
LONG WEEKENDS INCLUDING SUNDAYS
Schools following a standard Monday-to-Saturday schedule will remain closed on September 6, 13, 20 and 27, which fall on Sundays. Long weekends can also be availed if Saturdays are included.
Some schools in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh may continue regular classes or conduct examinations during September before their longer Dasara or quarterly breaks. West Bengal schools are also expected to continue regular classes before the larger Durga Puja holiday in October.
Students should check their school's official circular before treating any date as a confirmed holiday.
