Widow's Bay and The Pitt shared the spotlight at the 2026 Emmy Awards, winning best comedy and best drama respectively. The night also brought major acting wins for Noah Wyle, Rhea Seehorn, Jean Smart and Matthew Rhys.

It’s official! The Pitt has finally taken home the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series, emerging as the big winner in one of the night’s biggest categories.

DTF St Louis wins an Emmy for Best Limited Series.

Vince Gilligan won the Best Writing award for Pluribus.

Director Hiro Murai won the Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for Widow's Bay.

Michael J Fox received one of the most heartfelt moments of the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards as he was honoured with the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award for his work advocating for Parkinson’s disease.

The Back to the Future star, who has been living with Parkinson’s, received a standing ovation as he took the stage in a wheelchair to accept the honour.

The award for Outstanding Director - Drama was bagged by Slow Horses director Saul Metzstein.

Matthew Rhys has added another Emmy to his haul at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards. The actor won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in Widow’s Bay.

Sally Field won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for her role in Remarkably Bright Creatures.

Well, the rumours can finally be put to rest! Taylor Swift did make an appearance at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards – but not in the way fans may have expected. The pop superstar featured in a pre-taped sketch during the ceremony, officially confirming her presence at television’s biggest night.

Tom Pelphrey won Outstanding Supporting Actor - Drama for Task. He gave an emotional speech, dedicating his award to his pregnant actor-wife Kaley Cuoco.

John Mulaney presented the award for Best Lead Actor in Drama Series to Noah Wyle for The Pitt.

The Traitors won big for Best Reality Competition Programme. The cast of new Baywatch presented the award.

Five-time Emmy nominee Sofia Vergara presented the award for Best Supporting Actor - Comedy to Stephen Root for Widow's Bay.

Jean Smart won her eighth Emmy win. She won Best Lead Actress - Comedy for her performance as Deborah Vance as Hacks.
