Chicken party turns deadly in Karnataka, man stabs friend for eating more pieces

A Sunday party among a group of workers in Karnataka’s Belagavi district turned deadly after a seemingly trivial argument over who was eating more chicken pieces escalated into murder.

According to police, Seetharam and Arun, who were from Uttar Pradesh's Philibit district and worked at the same steel company in Belagavi, were living with three to four other workers in a shed.

With Sunday being a day off, the group reportedly drank alcohol and prepared chicken. During the meal, an argument broke out after Seetharam questioned Arun about eating more pieces of chicken.

What began as a minor quarrel spiralled within moments. In an intoxicated state, Arun allegedly picked up a knife and stabbed Seetharam in the chest.

Arun took the injured Seetharam to a hospital and claimed that he had fallen from a building. Police, however, became suspicious and questioned him during the investigation.

Seetharam later succumbed to his injuries and Arun was arrested.

Belagavi SP K Ramarajan said the "incident was initially concealed, but after conducting a proper investigation, the police found that it was a case of murder."
