Now, Sheeshmahal in Chandigarh for Arvind Kejriwal, claims BJP; AAP says not true

Arvind Kejriwal has yet commented on the Chandigarh bungalow claim.

The 'sheeshmahal' controversy is back and this time, it has travelled beyond Delhi as the BJP has launched a fresh attack on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal claiming he has been allotted a sprawling new bungalow in Chandigarh. The AAP hit back, rubbishing the allegations as "baseless" and asked the saffron party to show an allotment letter to substantiate its claim.

The BJP claimed that the former Delhi Chief Minister has been allotted a "7-star luxury bungalow" in the Punjab capital by the Bhagwant Mann-led government.

Sharing what it said was an aerial photograph of the property, the BJP alleged the two-acre residence in Chandigarh's Sector 2 was sanctioned under the Chief Minister's quota.

"The man who pretended to be a common man has had another grand sheeshmahal built. After the Delhi 'sheeshmahal' was vacated, Punjab's Super Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal ji has had an even more splendid one constructed," the Delhi unit of the BJP posted on X.

AAP'S SHARP REBUTTAL TO BJP CLAIM

In a sharp reaction to the BJP's 'sheeshmahal' claim, the AAP hit back, accusing the saffron party of spreading "bogus claims" about Arvind Kejriwal being allotted a house.

"Where is the allotment letter?" the AAP questioned, dismissing the BJP’s allegations as baseless.

The party said that ever since the Prime Minister’s "fake Yamuna story was exposed," the BJP has been in "panic mode," resorting to misinformation.

"From fake Yamuna to fake pollution data, fake rainfall, and now a fake 7-star house claim—everything is fabricated," AAP stated. It added that the photo being circulated by the BJP was merely of the CM’s camp office.

In recent weeks, the BJP and the AAP have been at loggerheads over key issues, including Delhi's poor air quality, Rekha Gupta government's cloud seeding drive, the cleanliness of Yamuna river, the Chhath Puja celebrations and now a renewed 'sheeshmahal' face-off.

The controversy mirrored the earlier row over Kejriwal's official residence at 6, Flag Staff Road in Delhi, dubbed the 'sheeshmahal' by the BJP, which alleged Rs 45 crore of public money had been spent on its renovation.

The AAP had then defended the expenditure, calling it a routine government renovation carried out by the PWD, and accused the BJP of twisting facts for political gain.

The BJP-led Delhi government has said that a probe into the controversy will be initiated to determine how much government money was used in renovating the bungalow.
