Madhya Pradesh man threatens CM Mohan Yadav to frame father, get him jailed
Police said that the man was troubled by his father and believed that sending a threat against the chief minister would prompt the police to take action against the latter.
A man has been arrested for allegedly issuing a death threat to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav through the Dial-112 WhatsApp number, police said. Investigators said the accused sent the message with the intention of getting his father implicated and arrested, rather than carrying out the threat with a motive.
According to police, the threatening message was received at around 11:30 am on September 23. The accused, a resident of Madhya Pradesh’s Burhanpur, allegedly edited the message twice before deleting it.
However, Dial-112 personnel managed to capture a screenshot of the message, which helped investigators launch a probe.
A technical investigation was subsequently launched to trace the sender. The Crime Branch tracked the accused and arrested him.
Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar confirmed the arrest and said the man was troubled by his father and believed that sending a threat against the chief minister would prompt the police to take action against the latter.
Police said the accused had no actual intention of carrying out the threat and had sent the message in the belief that it would result in his father’s arrest.
The investigation is continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and the exact motive behind the message.
The accused had previously been caught for travelling without a railway ticket, according to police. He has since been brought to Bhopal, where he is currently being interrogated.
Further details are expected to emerge as investigators examine the message, the accused’s communications and the circumstances that led him to send the threat. Police are also likely to determine what further legal action should follow based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
