PM to interact with Seva Yatris travelling from hometown Vadnagar to Varanasi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with participants of the ongoing Seva Yatra on Thursday morning. The twin motorcycle rallies are linking his hometown Vadnagar and the parliamentary constituency of Varanasi while marking his 25 years in public service.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact on Thursday morning with participants of the ongoing 'Seva Yatra', a motorcycle rally travelling between Vadnagar in Gujarat and Varanasi.
The rally aims to take the spirit of service to towns, districts and villages, while bringing together public engagement through 'seva' (service), 'sampark' (connect), youth participation, social welfare, cultural connect and community mobilisation.
Two bike rallies were flagged off on September 17, PM Modi's 76th birthday, one from his birthplace Vadnagar to his parliamentary constituency Varanasi and the other from Varanasi to Vadnagar. The yatras are travelling in 10 groups and will end on October 7, marking Modi's 25 years in public service.
Sources said the Prime Minister will interact with the participants on Thursday morning. They said the participants are not simply passing through communities, but are also meeting people and carrying out 'seva' activities in response to local needs.
One of the key objectives of the rallies is to interact with beneficiaries of government schemes, as well as youths and women, to understand the changes brought by welfare and empowerment schemes. Sources said the participants have set out on a journey that is much more than a motorcycle rally.
The flag-off event in Vadnagar was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Union minister Anupriya Patel, among others.
The Varanasi event was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister Chirag Paswan, besides other leaders.
PM Modi served as Gujarat Chief Minister from October 7, 2001 to May 22, 2014, and became Prime Minister on May 26, 2014. Since then, he has remained in office after winning three consecutive Lok Sabha elections, with the 'seva yatra' marking 25 years of his public service.
