The Janata Dal (United) has expelled Mokama MLA Anant Kumar Singh and his wife, former MLA Neelam Devi, for six years and cancelled their primary membership with immediate effect. The disciplinary measure follows Singh's decision to defy party lines during the Bihar Legislative Council elections, where he campaigned against official JDU candidate Neeraj Kumar in the Patna Graduates' constituency and instead backed Jan Suraaj candidate Anuj Singh.
