Biker Sia Issues Statement on Road Confrontation, Confirms FIR and Legal Action by Evening

A viral video from Gurugram's Golf Course Road shows a car driver aggressively tailing a woman biker, identified as Sia, before deliberately hitting her two-wheeler at high speed and fleeing the spot. The biker, who was travelling with a group of friends, alleged the occupants of the car were intoxicated, demanded she pull over, and pursued her despite fellow riders attempting to shield her. The confrontation was recorded from multiple angles, including bike dashcams and GoPros, which also captured the driver's face during a confrontation at a traffic light. Following widespread outrage on social media, Gurugram Police registered an FIR at Sector 56 Police Station under strict provisions against rash and negligent driving. The registered owner of the vehicle, an Army personnel on duty, clarified that a relative had borrowed his car for two days and that the suspect belongs to Tikri village in Palwal.

The Bengal government has ordered the closure of 252 madarsas and served show-cause notices to 100 institutions following a statewide verification drive across 22 districts, including Kolkata. A survey revealed that while 2,132 madarsas possess valid approval, 2,396 are operating without the required authorisation. Malda recorded the highest closures at 45, followed by Uttar Dinajpur with 37. State Minority Affairs Minister Shudhiram Tudu clarified that recognised institutions will remain operational and noticed institutions will receive an opportunity to respond. While Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh defended the decision citing unregulated functioning and security concerns, TMC MLA Pirzada Qasim Siddiqui accused the authorities of deliberately targeting the Muslim community.

In a Central Bureau of Investigation First Information Report concerning the death of Disha Salian, several prominent names from politics, cinema, and the police force have been listed following allegations made by her father, Satish Salian. Satish Salian alleged that his daughter was gang raped and murdered, disputing the narrative of suicide. The probe is examining allegations of criminal conspiracy, destruction, suppression, and fabrication of evidence, alongside possible delays in the autopsy report. The document mentions politicians including Aaditya Thackeray, Uddhav Thackeray, and former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, alongside actors Dino Morea, Suraj Pancholi, Rhea Chakraborty, and Showik Chakraborty. Former police officials such as Param Bir Singh and Sachin Waze are also cited in relation to allegations regarding procedural delays and handling of the investigation. The probe aims to examine the circumstances of the 2020 death.

A political confrontation has broken out following Union Home Minister Amit Shah's remarks regarding the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code across 21 NDA-governed states. In response, AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi criticized the central government, asserting that the policy is designed to target Muslims rather than ensure equality. Owaisi alleged that the move imposes Hindu law on non-Hindus and violates Articles 14, 25, 26, and 29 of the Constitution. He further challenged the BJP to implement the Uniform Civil Code in NDA-ruled Goa and questioned the imposition of the Disturbed Areas Act and love jihad regulations across states.
