CBI Probe Ordered In Death Case, Defamation Allegations & Political War Over Investigation

A war of words continues between the TVK and the DMK in the Tamil Nadu Assembly. The Leader of Opposition, Udayanidhi Stalin, attacked Chief Minister Vijay over the cancellation of several state projects, including the Parandur airport, metro, and flyover initiatives, stating that the state is moving in reverse. Udayanidhi Stalin also raised concerns regarding law and order and rising crime rates over the first hundred-plus days of the TVK administration. TVK ministers and MLAs responded strongly, citing crime records from the DMK's previous regime as exchanges between both sides intensified on the floor of the House.

In a major political shakeup within the Telangana government, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is set to drop Minister Konda Surekha from the state cabinet following public infighting and controversy. The action comes after the minister's daughter, Konda Sushmitha, levelled corruption allegations against the Chief Minister and his family regarding land matters. The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee disciplinary committee submitted an observation report to the party high command, leading to the decision after discussions in Delhi. The Chief Minister's Office stated that there is no place for indiscipline in the state cabinet. Konda Surekha expressed shock over the decision, asserting she had no role in her married daughter's statements and claimed she was not given a proper opportunity to clarify her stand. Meanwhile, opposition parties, including the BJP and the BRS, targeted the state government, alleging that the Chief Minister is attempting to silence corruption allegations raised within his own party.

Aam Aadmi Party leader Satyendar Jain has been granted bail by Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on a bail bond of two lakh rupees in a case investigated by the Anti-Corruption Branch. Jain's counsel argued that the arrest took place 27 months after the FIR was registered, despite full cooperation and the evidence being documentary in nature. The ACB opposed the plea, citing the nascent stage of the probe and multiple pending cases against him. However, the court granted relief, while clarity on further conditions awaits the official order copy.

The Indian Air Force is set to conduct major combat air exercises near the Pakistan border in the Rajasthan sector in September. The drills include the India-Japan Veer Guardian exercise and the multinational Exercise Tarang Shakti. Japan will participate with fighter aircraft and 110 personnel in Jodhpur, while multiple global air forces, including the United States with expected F-35 aircraft, will join Tarang Shakti. These exercises will take place across Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Barmer, and Phalodi sectors ahead of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi.
