The Karnataka Cabinet has recommended the suspension of the Karnataka Public Service Commission chief. The decision follows an August 18 Karnataka High Court order that reinstated the chief after a previous July 13 suspension was questioned over technical lapses, specifically because the Cabinet had not originally recommended it. The chief was previously raided by the Enforcement Directorate and faces allegations involving his daughter obtaining a post within the Karnataka Public Service Commission. With the Cabinet now taking cognizance and formally issuing the recommendation to the Governor, the matter has developed into an ongoing legal battle between the High Court's reinstatement order and the Cabinet's recommendation.

A reactor blast at a pharmaceutical unit in Joshygudem village, Posanpally mandal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district of Telangana has left two workers dead and ten others injured. Firefighters rushed to the spot after the explosion occurred around 10:00 PM and brought the resulting blaze under control. Among the injured, two workers sustained severe burn injuries of over 50 percent, while seven others received minor injuries. All injured workers have been shifted to hospitals for treatment. The police have registered a case and an investigation is underway to determine what triggered the reactor blast.
