Congress Questions BJP Defence Of Poll Body; Sparks Clash In Karnataka

The Bharatiya Janata Party defended the Election Commission of India following allegations raised by opposition parties regarding the Special Intensive Revision and reported internal disagreements. The ruling party maintained that decisions taken by the poll watchdog were unanimous and had the consensus of all three Election Commissioners as required by law. It asserted that deliberations and discussions within the institution reflect democratic functioning rather than dissent. The party accused the opposition of directing its anguish over electoral defeat at the poll body without providing concrete proof. Meanwhile, political focus turns toward an upcoming opposition bloc meeting scheduled for 30 September.

Defending the Special Summary Revision process in Andhra Pradesh, Telugu Desam Party MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu stated that the exercise was conducted with complete fairness and transparency. A 22-year-old Gauhati University student, identified as Nimisha Thakuria, was found unconscious at a homestay in Guwahati and later declared brought dead at a hospital. The key accused, Asif Ali, has been detained by the police in connection with the case. According to police officials, the accused claimed that the victim committed suicide by hanging herself. The Deputy Commissioner of Police confirmed that Asif Ali's version is currently being verified and an investigation is underway into the sequence of events at the homestay. Meanwhile, widespread protests have erupted on the ground demanding justice for the student.
