Delhi PG Collapse: Basement Work, Weak Pillars & Cramped Rooms in Satya Niketan

A building collapse in Delhi's Satya Niketan has claimed seven lives, leading to the invocation of culpable homicide and negligence charges against the property owners. The police investigation revealed that four floors were added illegally to an aging structure, and renovation work involving the dismantling of a load-bearing pillar was underway during heavy rains. The building operated as a student paying guest accommodation and medical store. Following the tragedy, authorities have initiated structural audits of existing paying guest accommodations across the capital and ordered a review of safety regulations, alongside exploring vacant public housing options for students.

A 54-year-old Meitei musician and music teacher from Manipur, Songtham Vikram Singh, died after being brutally assaulted outside his house in Delhi. After confronting them, he was assaulted with fists and blows and later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. A major security incident was thwarted at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in BKC, Mumbai, ahead of an event scheduled to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Multiple units, including the Crime Intelligence Unit, are investigating the background of the accused, the origin of the forged PMO card, and the motive behind attempting to breach the high-security venue.
