A major security scare unfolded at the Jio World Plaza in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex, adjacent to the venue where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to inaugurate the Global FinTech Fest. Mumbai Police detained 24-year-old Rohan Parekh after he flashed a fake identity card claiming to be a Grade C official in the Prime Minister's Office. The incident occurred when Parekh's bodyguard, Dilip Kunde, was intercepted by security personnel for carrying a firearm. Discrepancies in the card, including the absence of a validity period and the issuer's designation, prompted immediate police intervention. In court, Parekh's counsel claimed he was duped by individuals posing as PMO officials who appointed him to an advisory role on defense acquisition and geopolitics. Police are actively investigating the origin of the forged credentials and searching for an associate named Prathamesh Bagul.
