A major landslide in North Sikkim's Mangan district has partially blocked two rivers, the Teesta and the Chiyabong, following a hillside collapse near their confluence along the Naga and Tosa Road. Water accumulation has been reported in both rivers, leading authorities to place lower belt and downstream areas on alert as a precaution. The district administration and police are continuously monitoring river water levels to check for changes in flow or threats of reaching danger levels. While property damage is currently being assessed, officials confirmed that the Teesta River flow remains normal and no casualties or immediate danger to downstream areas have been reported.

A TVK functionary named Kanan was chased and hacked to death by unidentified miscreants in Chennai between Adyar and Thiruvanmiyur. Tamil Nadu Police have recovered CCTV footage from the crime scene and formed three special teams to apprehend the perpetrators. Five individuals have been detained in connection with the murder. According to the police, Kanan was a history-sheeter with prior cases of murder and attempt to murder, who had recently entered the real estate business. Authorities are probing personal enmity and business rivalry angles. Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin questioned the state government and the prevailing law and order situation over the incident.

As floodwaters recede from areas devastated by last month's catastrophic flash floods in Nepal, the true extent of the tragedy is gradually surfacing, with a landscape of thick muck, debris, and destruction left behind. On Sunday, the official death toll due to the calamity reached 1,369 in the Himalayan nation, with about 5,000 people still missing. India Today visited Bidur in Nuwakot, one of the districts worst affected by the floods in Nepal. What once was a bustling city now lay washed away, leaving behind an eerie, ghost-town-like landscape. Bidur, however, is now again accessible by foot due to the receding water level in the Trishuli River.
