Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the two-day National Green Tribunal international conference titled The Future of Environment and Climate Dynamics in New Delhi. The Pattali Makkal Katchi has decided to remain neutral and not back any political party in the upcoming Tamil Nadu by-elections scheduled for 6 October. The Jharkhand High Court has dismissed an interlocutory application seeking a stay on the framing of charges in an 8.86-acre land case. The plea sought to halt proceedings in the special Prevention of Money Laundering Act court after a similar request was turned down by the trial court. The Enforcement Directorate has alleged illegal acquisition, possession, and transfer of land in Ranchi's Bargain Circle using forged documents, generating proceeds of crime. Following the High Court's refusal to grant relief or drop proceedings, formal charges under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act are set to be framed in the trial court.

A student at IIT Bombay died by suicide in a hostel room following an examination. According to a statement issued by the institute, the student was found using a mobile phone to access ChatGPT during the exam. IIT Bombay stated that the student was counselled by the instructor and the head of department, with no disciplinary action initiated. Despite assurances regarding academic continuity, the student was later found dead. The incident triggered overnight protests across the campus, with students demanding justice, compensation, and the resignation of the IIT director, while the administration expressed deep sorrow and stated that the circumstances surrounding the death are being examined.
