Andhra Local Polls Halted; CM Naidu Accuses YSRCP of Violence, Opposition Hits Back
The State Election Commission has halted the local body election process across 100 urban local bodies in Andhra Pradesh following Supreme Court directions. The decision came after the YSRCP challenged the alleged denial of nomination access for its candidates. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu accused YSRCP cadres of orchestrating unrest, presenting video footage of alleged attacks, intimidation, and arson at a press conference. In response, YSRCP chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and party leaders countered the allegations, accusing the state administration and ruling Telugu Desam Party of misusing state machinery, using violence, and preventing opposition candidates from filing nomination papers.
