NEET PG Aspirant Dies By Suicide In Hyderabad Hostel A Day Before Exam; Suicide Note Recovered

A 26-year-old medical aspirant from Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh died by suicide in a private hostel room in the Chikkadpally area of Hyderabad a day before she was scheduled to appear for the NEET PG examination. The aspirant allegedly consumed a poisonous substance. After failing to reach her over the phone, her father alerted the hostel staff. She was rushed to a hospital where she was declared brought dead. A suicide note recovered by the Chikkadpally police mentions that she was suffering from depression and stress since her intermediate years, with no mention of the NEET PG exam. Telangana police have registered a case and shifted the body for a post-mortem examination as investigation into the death continues.

Delhi Pollution Measures: Construction Ban, 50% WFH & Staggered Office Hours

The Delhi government has announced several measures to curb air pollution ahead of the winter season. A complete ban on construction and dust-generating demolition activities will take effect, along with a total halt on construction from 10 December. Supreme Court Questions Centre And RBI On UPI MDR Fee, Refuses Stay On Rollout

The Supreme Court has taken cognizance of a public interest litigation challenging the implementation of UPI MDR charges, issuing notices to the Centre, the Reserve Bank of India, and NPCI. The court sought clarity on the legal basis of the fee, questioning whether it constitutes a fee or a tax and under which law it is being collected. While the counsel for the Reserve Bank of India stated that the government earns nothing and that the charges are transaction fees collected by banks and payment platforms, the top court declined to grant an interim stay on the rollout scheduled from October 15. An affidavit is expected to be filed within four weeks.
