A controversy has erupted in Kerala after the Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama faction backed Grand Mufti Kanthapuram A. P. Aboobacker Musliyar over remarks restricting women to their homes. The clerical body defended the statements, asserting that clerics should not be belittled for religious declarations and that those who disagree must respect them. This development comes following a meeting between leaders of the Kanthapuram faction and Kerala Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan. The leaders expressed their displeasure over the Chief Minister's strong rebuttal, in which he defended Muslim women's rights to participate in the mainstream and cited examples of prominent women from Islamic history. The Samastha leadership raised objections, stating the Chief Minister misinterpreted Islamic history and created an impression that religious scholars were unaware of their own faith. The cleric's earlier circular and comments advising women against public appearances continue to trigger significant political debate across the state.

The All India Trinamool Congress has written letters to the President of India and the Governor of West Bengal regarding recent attacks and vandalism at its offices across the state. The party has sought urgent appointments for its delegations to highlight alleged lawlessness, systematic misuse of police, and party office vandalism by opposition workers. Trinamool Congress also alleged that police failed to intervene despite repeated calls during the incidents.

A political faceoff has erupted in West Bengal after Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Abhishek Banerjee's office at Camac Street in Kolkata was allegedly ransacked and vandalised during the early hours. TMC leaders accused BJP-backed goons of storming the office premises and assaulting security personnel. Rejecting the allegations, the West Bengal BJP chief stated that the party has nothing to do with the incident, calling the vandalism an outcome of internal TMC infighting. The BJP asserted that it believes in a democratic system, whereas TMC workers are clashing among themselves. Meanwhile, Kolkata Police and municipal officials previously visited the site regarding an illegal billboard dispute, and an investigation into the office vandalism is currently underway.

The Karnataka government has decided to withdraw the Karnataka Parks Act amendment bill following severe public backlash and protests. The bill, which had proposed allowing up to five percent of park space to be utilized for public utility projects such as metro construction, road widening, and underground tunnels, triggered massive opposition from citizens and opposition parties in Bengaluru. Protesters gathered at major public spaces like Lalbagh to oppose the legislation.
