Watch: 300-metre iron bridge swept away in Assam floods, villages cut off
A 300-metre-long iron bridge over the Kemi River connecting Kemi and Oyan in Assam’s Dhemaji district was swept away by strong floodwaters on Sunday, June 28, severely disrupting road connectivity in the region. The collapse has completely cut off access between the Kemi-Purana Jelom area and Jonai Sadar, leaving residents stranded and bringing transportation and daily movement to a halt. The bridge was a crucial link for thousands of people in the area, and its destruction has raised serious concerns over access to essential services, including emergency response, amid the ongoing flood situation in the region.
