No one can buy me: Rajpal Yadav says money can't define his 26-year journey
Rajpal Yadav said his financial and legal troubles do not define him as an artist. He said his bond with cinema and theatre remains unchanged despite the dispute.

Actor Rajpal Yadav has opened up about his financial and legal troubles, saying they do not define his identity as an artiste or his decades-long association with Indian cinema. The actor stressed that despite the difficulties he has faced, his commitment to acting and theatre remains unchanged.
In an interview with ANI, Yadav described himself as a student of Indian cinema and said financial problems should not be used to judge his entire career. Referring to his ongoing financial dispute, he said he remains committed to his work and cannot be defined by the amount of money he may owe.
Yadav said he has spent his life serving art and that money has never been his primary motivation. He added that whether he is going through a difficult phase or a successful one, audiences continue to recognise and support him.
The actor also spoke about the influence of theatre and classical Indian traditions on his approach to acting. Referring to Bharat Muni and the idea of life as a stage, he said a person's journey is ultimately about looking back at their choices and understanding what they have achieved.
Calling himself a “priest of theatre and films”, Yadav said he wants his work to reflect his journey as an actor. He expressed his desire to showcase what he has contributed to Indian cinema between 2000 and 2026, saying the project could take another year or two to complete.
“I was never lost,” Yadav said, adding that neither filmmaking, building a house nor developing his career had ever made him lose sight of who he was.
He further said that he remains deeply connected to Indian cinema and theatre. For Yadav, acting is not simply a profession but a way of life, and he said his love for the industry remains intact despite the challenges he has faced.
Rajpal Yadav's legal troubles
In July, the Delhi High Court upheld the conviction and sentence of Rajpal Yadav and his wife, Radha Rajpal Yadav, in multiple cheque dishonour cases linked to a financial dispute with Murli Projects Pvt Ltd.
According to the court's judgment, Yadav had repeatedly sought time to arrange the required funds and assured the court on several occasions that he would repay the complainant. The court granted him several adjournments and temporarily suspended his sentence based on those assurances.
However, the court later noted that despite being given multiple opportunities, Yadav had failed to fulfil the commitments made before it. He was subsequently directed to surrender before the jail authorities. Although further time was granted after some payments were made, the dispute was not finally settled.
On the work front, Yadav was last seen in Welcome to the Jungle, alongside Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and others.
