At the Vishwanath and Sons audio launch in Coimbatore, Suriya spoke about love, marriage and supporting women. He said relationships may evolve with time, but respect and lasting affection must not.
Actor Suriya shared his thoughts on love, marriage and the importance of respecting women during the audio launch of Vishwanath and Sons in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, on August 2. The actor said that while people evolve with time, love and respect should remain constant in a relationship.
"I think love should be everlasting. It shouldn't end when you tie the knot. You should keep loving every day – even if you cross 20 years together. Keep loving. We should continue respecting our partner," Suriya said.
Reflecting on how relationships change over time, he added that people naturally mature and their priorities shift. "We all change – men change and women change. The maturity you have when you're 20 is not the same when you hit 25 or 30. Everything will change. What you run towards will also change. But the love you have for your partner should never change. That's the only advice I'd give about love," he said.
Suriya also highlighted the sacrifices many women make after marriage, urging men to recognise and support them.
"If a man has to go a place, it might take an hour. But for a woman, it could even take 10 hours. I hope you know why I am saying this. When they get married, become a mother and take care of the household, they are the ones to compromise," he said.
Calling for greater appreciation of women's efforts, the actor added, "So, when they win, one should salute them 100 per cent and not your usual 10 per cent. Stand by them as much as possible. More than love, give them respect."
Suriya's remarks drew applause from the audience at the event, with clips of his speech quickly circulating on social media.

Vishwanath and Sons, directed by Venky Atluri, is slated to hit theatres on August 14.
