CJP Leaders Bail Conditions Accessed, Jantar Mantar Protest Barred, Apology Given
Cockroach Janata Party leaders Sourav Das and Ashutosh Ranka have secured bail after the Delhi High Court declined to intervene, directing them back to the Special Executive Magistrate court. As part of their bail conditions under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, the duo submitted an undertaking promising not to disturb public peace or tranquility and agreeing not to issue protest calls at Jantar Mantar unless legally denotified. Their counsel also tendered an unconditional apology. The leaders executed personal bonds and sureties of 50,000 rupees each, which will be forfeited upon any violation. Legal correspondent Anisha Mathur clarified that their prior seven-day detention was preventive custody during an ongoing inquiry rather than a punitive sentence.
