The development also addresses community representation ahead of upcoming assembly elections in Punjab, where the BJP aims to strengthen its political positioning and possible outreach with the Shiromani Akali Dal. Furthermore, the decision reflects the party leadership's trust in Puri's diplomatic experience and handling of energy affairs amid opposition scrutiny.
