AAP slams BJP Chhath Pooja celebration at Yamuna; Red alert in Andhra, Odisha coast

Following a Congress Working Committee meeting, party leaders raised allegations against the Election Commission of India and the Bharatiya Janata Party, demanding transparency in election data, probes into lapses, and timely release of voter lists. The opposition accused the election machinery of being compromised, pointing to alleged discrepancies in voting lists and electronic voting machines while calling for a nationwide effort to protect democratic processes. In response, Bharatiya Janata Party leaders countered the allegations, accusing Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi of running a false narrative to undermine public confidence in India's democratic system, asserting that attempts to spread rumours to gain votes will not succeed against governance and development.

A Bharatiya Janata Party leader criticized the Congress party for targeting constitutional institutions and the Election Commission instead of introspecting its electoral defeats. Addressing the media, the speaker questioned Congress leadership over its objections concerning the electoral roll, asking why the opposition wants duplicate names or names of deceased individuals retained. Reference was made to the Election Commission's clarification stating that Booth Level Officers will visit homes to collect documents and verify notices issued under the Special Intensive Revision process. The speaker also questioned whether Congress gives a clean chit to the Election Commission in states where the Bharatiya Janata Party is not in power, such as Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Kerala, and Karnataka. Highlighting historical aspects, the leader claimed the Congress was formed under suggestions to preserve the British Empire, calling its attacks on constitutional systems shameful.

The Bharatiya Janata Party targeted the Congress party for criticising constitutional bodies and raising questions against the Election Commission following electoral defeats. The party highlighted that the opposition remains silent upon winning elections in states such as Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh, but creates controversy whenever it loses. A party leader accused the Congress leadership of attempting to harm Prime Minister Narendra Modi's image while damaging constitutional frameworks and democratic conventions. The confrontation between political parties continues as the ruling party defends the Election Commission and urges the opposition to introspect rather than question established democratic institutions.

The Monitoring Committee of Indian Muslims, alongside other Muslim organisations and supported by Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, staged a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. Samajwadi Party MPs Mohibullah Nadwi, Zia-ur-Rahman Barq, and Iqra Hasan joined the demonstration. Protesters raised concerns regarding alleged discrimination against the Muslim community, selective bulldozer actions against families, the exclusion of votes, and the demolition of a portion of a mosque in Ujjain. The demonstration also intensified pressure on Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, taking place ahead of upcoming assembly elections.
