Asian Games Live: India miss relay medal

India produced a season-best 43.57 seconds in the women’s 4x100m relay final, but narrowly missed out on a medal at the Asian Games 2026.

Japan edged India to bronze by just 0.05 seconds, also clocking 43.52. China won gold with 42.96 seconds, while Thailand took silver in 43.51 seconds.

India’s quartet of Tamanna, Sneha Shanuvali Sathyanarayana, Sudeshna Shivankar and Abinaya Rajarajan finished fourth.

Asian Games Live: India in women's 4*100m relay final

India’s women’s 4x100m relay team, featuring Tamanna, Sneha Shanuvali Sathyanarayana, Sudeshna Hanmant Shivankar and Abinaya Rajarajan, will compete in the final at the Asian Games 2026.

The quartet has has a 43.65-season-best time heading into the medal race. India will look to produce a clean exchange sequence and strong finish as the team aims to challenge the leading nations in the women’s relay final.

Athletics Live: India cruise into 4x400m men's final

That was a really assured finish from India. The quartet of Dharamveer Chaudhary, Rajesh Ramesh, Manu TS and Jay Kumar clocked 3:01.49 to win Heat 2 and comfortably make tomorrow's final.

There was no last-gasp drama needed here. India put themselves in a strong position and brought it home well, setting up another medal opportunity in the final.

Yash Vir Singh has produced a personal best of 85.72m with his final throw, bettering his previous best of 85.14m.

However, the effort falls well short of Rumesh Pathirage’s commanding 88.55m, leaving the Sri Lankan firmly in gold-medal position.

However, he could not improve on that mark in his remaining attempts. Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Pathirage leads the competition, with India’s Rohit Yadav and Yash Vir Singh also firmly in medal contention.

Asian Games Live: India thrash Bangladesh 10-0 in hockey

India have completed a dominant 10-0 victory over Bangladesh in their Asian Games hockey clash.

India led 5-0 at the end of the third quarter before adding five more goals in the final 15 minutes to put the result beyond doubt.

They completely controlled the contest, enjoying 63% possession and earning six penalty corners, while Bangladesh had just one.

Asian Games Live: India top 4x100m relay standings after heats

India have topped the overall standings after both heats of the men’s 4x100m relay, clocking 3:01.49.

Qatar are second at 3:01.71, just 0.22 seconds behind India, while China sit third in 3:02.15. Thailand are fourth at 3:03.07.

India’s time came in the first heat, where they finished ahead of Qatar, China and Thailand. Japan and Vietnam also made the final through the second heat, while South Korea took the final qualifying spot.

Asian Games Live: Sreeshankar secures silver after injury scare

Murali Sreeshankar has secured the silver medal in the men’s long jump with a best effort of 8.07m.

It is an impressive result considering the injury scare he had earlier in the competition. Sreeshankar landed heavily after his fourth attempt and appeared to hurt his ankle, with medical officials attending to him on the runway. That jump was also marked as a foul.

He subsequently passed on his fifth attempt, while Uzbekistan’s Anvar Anvarov could not find the distance needed to overtake him.

China’s Shi Yuhao takes gold with 8.17m, but Sreeshankar holds on to silver despite the setback.

Arshad Nadeem has fouled his fourth attempt in the men’s javelin throw final. His best valid effort remains 80.29m, which currently has him in fourth place.

Rohit Yadav continues to lead with 84.68m, followed by Yash Vir Singh (84.35m) and Rumesh Pathirage (83.34m).

With two attempts remaining, Arshad will need a significant improvement to challenge for the podium.
