JD Vance

JD Vance is a Republican politician. In 2025, he became the Vice President of the United States of America. He was elected to the U.S. Senate from Ohio in 2022. Vance was born and raised in Middletown, Ohio. He joined the Marines, served in Iraq, and later earned degrees from Ohio State University and Yale Law School. He also worked as a venture capitalist in Silicon Valley.

 

Vance published his book Hillbilly Elegy during Donald Trump's first presidential campaign. The 2016 bestseller helped Vance gain prominence. The book brought Vance closer to Trump, who admired it and had known Vance since he began his political career. The two subsequently became friends. After Trump's victory in the 2016 election, Vance returned to his home state of Ohio and founded an anti-opioid charity.


 
Vance met his wife, Usha Chilukuri Vance, at the Yale Law School.
