An IndiGo flight operating from Goa to Delhi made a safe emergency landing at Mopa Airport in North Goa following an engine failure. Flight 6E 2102 took off for the national capital at 9:16 AM and was rerouted back to Goa after reporting a snag in one of its engines. Air Traffic Control declared a full emergency at 9:30 AM. The aircraft landed safely on Runway 28 at 9:51 AM and was parked at Stand 6, following which the emergency status was withdrawn at 10:03 AM. Standard operating procedures require the Directorate General of Civil Aviation to be notified for a full inspection of the aircraft, while an official statement from IndiGo remains awaited.

At the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit, discussions focused on global security, regional conflicts, and supply chain disruptions. Regional cooperation was emphasised to address challenges such as cross-border terrorism, transnational crime networks, and narcotics trafficking. The summit also addressed the necessity of diversifying supply chains to avoid over-reliance on single sources, alongside the role of digital public infrastructure in managing large populations efficiently. Fostering consensus, managing differences, and strengthening regional connectivity remain essential to unlocking economic potential and ensuring long-term stability across member nations.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing Gen Z on Instagram, reiterated his call for Indians to embrace “swadeshi” by avoiding unnecessary gold purchases and destination weddings abroad. He urged people to follow the “Vocal for Local” and “Wed in India” mantras, saying such choices would strengthen India’s self-reliance. Modi also highlighted India’s 7.8% GDP growth in the first quarter of 2026-27 despite global uncertainty, wars and disrupted supply chains. He said greater emphasis on self-reliance would help India realise the aspirations of the next generation and become a developed nation by the centenary of Independence.
