Soon after, police formed as many as 12 teams to track down the accused, who had gone on the run. A cash reward of Rs 25,000 was also announced for information leading to Sunil's arrest.

On the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, police received a tip-off that the accused was present in the Bamrauli Katara locality.
