Lucknow Sub-inspector found dead in car, liquor bottles recovered beneath seat
A Lucknow sub-inspector was found unconscious inside a locked car on Budheshwar-Mohan Road and was declared dead at hospital. Police have sent the body for post-mortem and are examining CCTV, forensic evidence and other angles.
A sub-inspector posted in Lucknow was found dead inside a locked car on Budheshwar-Mohan Road in the Para police station area on Friday, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Sub-Inspector Ajay Kumar, was a 2020-batch officer posted at the Sarvodaya Nagar police outpost under Ghazipur police station. He was a native of Hapur district.
According to Lucknow Police, Kumar had been out of contact since Thursday afternoon. Sources said he had left Ghazipur police station on Thursday in connection with an investigation. After repeated calls from colleagues went unanswered, police traced the location of his mobile phone to the Para police station area.
Police teams from Para and Ghazipur police stations reached the spot and found Kumar lying unconscious inside a locked Santro car parked on the roadside. The vehicle had reportedly been parked at the location since Thursday afternoon.
After videographing the scene, police broke the car's window, unlocked the door and pulled Kumar out before rushing him to a hospital in an ambulance. Doctors declared him dead.
During the preliminary examination, police found no external injury marks on Kumar's body, although bleeding from his nose was noticed.
Police also recovered liquor bottles from beneath the seat next to the driver's seat inside the car.
A forensic team visited the spot to collect scientific evidence. Police completed the inquest proceedings and sent the body for a post-mortem examination.
Police have informed Kumar's family about the incident.
Officials said the exact cause of death has not been confirmed yet and will be determined after the post-mortem report, forensic examination and other evidence are reviewed.
Police are also examining CCTV footage and investigating the case from all possible angles. Further legal proceedings are underway.
