Syed was immediately rushed to Balaji Hospital in Malad (East), where doctors declared him brought dead. Hospital authorities confirmed that he had suffered fatal head injuries in the incident.

The latest fatality comes amid a series of rain-related accidents in Mumbai as heavy rainfall and gusty winds continue to uproot trees and damage infrastructure across the city.

63-YEAR-OLD MAN DIES AFTER TREE COLLAPSES

Earlier on Sunday, a 63-year-old man, Yunus Kundawala, was killed after a tree collapsed on him in Kurla West's Naupada area. He was rescued from beneath the fallen tree and taken to Fauzia Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. CCTV footage of the incident showed the tree crashing onto the victim. BMC teams later removed the tree and cleared the area.

The city has witnessed multiple tree-fall incidents over the past few days. Strong winds uprooted another tree in Bandra East, damaging several parked vehicles, while another tree collapsed near industrialist Mukesh Ambani's security convoy, briefly disrupting traffic before civic authorities cleared the obstruction.

FATALITIES INCREASE AMID RED ALERT

The recent incidents add to a growing list of monsoon-related fatalities in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. On June 30, an 11-year-old boy was killed after a peepal tree fell on a school bus, while another man died in Mira-Bhayandar after being struck by a falling tree. On July 2, a 55-year-old man lost his life after falling into an open manhole in Sakinaka during heavy rain.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Mumbai, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel and remain alert as adverse weather conditions persist.
