Main virgin hoon...: Internet shreds Shilpa Shinde for taunting Shivangi on Lock Upp

Actor Shilpa Shinde has drawn flak online after a clip from Lock Upp showed her mocking fellow contestant Shivangi Joshi with remarks about innocence and virginity. In the viral clip, Shilpa says, "Main bahut masoom hoon. Mujhe kuch nahi chahiye. Main virgin hoon. Main shaadi ke baad hi karungi" (I am very innocent. I don't want anything. I am a virgin. I will only do it after marriage). Several users on X criticised her over the remarks.

The clip shows Shilpa with Shreya Kalra and Madhuri Jain Grover during a conversation in which Shreya suggests that she would mock Harshad Chopra while Shilpa should mock Shivangi. The exchange has also led to questions from social media users about Shreya's role in the conversation, with both women facing criticism online.

In the clip, Shreya tells Shilpa that she would do Harshad's voice-over, while Shilpa should do Shivangi's. Shreya, while mocking Harshad, says, "Arre yaar, mera to koi itna secret hai bhi nahi. Kitni zor se acting karu mein? (Oh man, I don't even have any big secrets. How hard am I supposed to act?)" Shilpa then joins in and says, "Main bahut masoom hoon. Mujhe kuch nahi chahiye. Main virgin hoon. Main shaadi ke baad hi karungi (I am very innocent. I don't want anything. I am a virgin. I will only do it after marriage)."

Reacting to the clip, one X user wrote, "eww shilpa tf is she on? netflix stop giving criminals your platform (sic)." A second user said, "Shilpa, how low are you going to stoop? Every. F*****. Single. Day. Giving a voice-over for Shivangi saying, 'Mai toh virgin hoon, ab shaadi ke baad krungi?' Seriously? Who the hell are you? This is the reality of this girl She’s the actual bully. Shivangi considers her as a friend and this is how she talks about her!!! Nothing can make be love Shreya period!! (sic)"

Another X user slammed Shreya for complaining that Shivangi never takes her side and added, "Such a disgusting remark. The reason Shilpa said this today is because of Shreya, and even after hearing it, Shreya was laughing. This is the same Shreya who had an issue when similar things were said about Akanksha Choudhary on a podcast. And also today, when it's about Shivangi, she's laughing. Shame on both ladies. I am happy to support Shivangi; at least ek game ke liye usne apni limit to cross nahi kari hai. (sic)"

Another said, "Sorry Miss Shreya Kalra and Shilpa Shinde, this is not how you operate on a global platform like Netflix. Please learn some grace from Shivangi Joshi (sic)."

What has happened on the show so far?

The comments came after Shilpa, who was appointed as a controller, ordered Shivangi to stay away from Harshad and limit her conversations with him. This led Shivangi to have an emotional breakdown.

Shivangi's sister Sheetal also extended support to her online while criticising Shilpa.

On Instagram Stories, she expressed disappointment over Shilpa Shinde's treatment of Shivangi, alleging that the senior actor continued to pressure her to do the work alone despite knowing she was unwell. She claimed the rest of the house could see what was happening and accused Shilpa of targeting Shivangi out of personal resentment.

She added, "I stand by my sister who has played a fair game since day one, and I call out each and every Shivangians to come and support a butterfly girl who has spread nothing but love, peace, prosperity, kindness towards all her inmates. Stay strong Shivangi, We love you."

The fresh row comes amid recent scrutiny around Shilpa on the show. Shilpa recently entered Lock Upp as a wild card contestant. During an episode, co-host Riteish Deshmukh asked contestants to share their views after Shilpa's admission about filing a false sexual harassment complaint against Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain producer Sanjay Kohli was discussed. While most contestants called it a grave allegation that could ruin someone's life, Akanksha Chamola said Shilpa may have felt cornered and had no other option at the time.

Last month, Shilpa said on a podcast with comedians Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa that the sexual harassment complaint she had filed against Sanjay Kohli nearly a decade ago was false. She said she filed the complaint after leaving Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain and not receiving her pending dues, and that she felt cornered and saw the allegations as a last resort. Shilpa also said the matter ended in a settlement and that she was eventually paid her dues.
