Shalini Passi may know most of the players in The Traitors palace, but remembering Munawar Faruqui’s name appears to be a different story. A promo from the upcoming season has gone viral after Passi hilariously forgot the stand-up comedian’s name and ended up calling him “Maanyavar”.
The moment unfolds during the contestants’ introductions in the premiere episode. Munawar approaches Passi and tells her that he could not meet her properly, before asking how she is. Passi thanks him and, despite saying she knows him, asks what he does and whether he is a singer.
Munawar then introduces himself as a stand-up comedian, adding that he also dabbles in acting and writing.
But when Passi later speaks to the camera about the contestants, things take an unexpectedly funny turn. While claiming that around 80 to 85 per cent of the players in the palace know her, she suddenly struggles to recall Munawar’s name.
“Man, man, Manya what’s his name? Jo comedian hai na, Maanyavar, kya naam hai unka?” she says.
And, just like that, Munawar became “Maanyavar”.
