Entrepreneur Ashneer Grover's wife and motivational speaker Madhuri Grover was evicted from Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa in the latest episode. Following her exit, Madhuri spoke exclusively to India Today addressing rumours linking her to co-contestant Ram Kapoor and her much-discussed friendship with Shreya Kalra.

Throughout her stint on the show, Madhuri was subjected to rumours about having a crush on Ram Kapoor. When asked about the same, she laughed them off and said, "Ramji is a very nice person. But who put this idea into everyone's head?" she joked, before adding, "I am very happy in my life. I am an extremely curious person and would often go to Ramji because he explained things well. Later, Akanksha Chamola started answering many of my questions too, and so I would joke that I no longer needed to trouble Ramji. That's all there was to it."

She further spoke about her friendship with Shreya and addressed speculation that it was her bond with the 30-year-old digital creator that played a role in her exit from the show. "My friendship with Shreya was very genuine and very organic. It was never for the game. Two very different people just clicked. Shreya genuinely needed someone because she often felt isolated in the house, and my morale was also low for a long time."

Reflecting on their equation inside the house, Madhuri said she and Shreya had always understood that the game and their friendship were separate, even though the eviction vote left her hurt.

“There were no conditions attached. Shreya always knew she had come to win, and so had everyone else. She understood the game and played it passionately in her own way. But our friendship was never affected by that. Sometimes true friendships don't need words. One look is enough to know everything is fine," Madhuri said.

Speaking about her equation with the other contestants, the 45-year-old said she made a conscious effort to stay away from negativity, not just with Shreya but throughout her time in the house.

She said, "I was probably the only person in the house who always tried to stay positive. When there are constant fights, someone has to remain calm. I never went where unnecessary negativity was happening. I only tried to guide people who genuinely wanted to understand me."

The evicted inmate also revealed that fellow contestants Riyaz Aly, Varun Yadav and Yogesh often looked out for her. "They would tell me, 'Ma'am, please stay away from fights. If someone misbehaves with you, we won't be able to tolerate it.' I received a lot of respect and affection from them."

Towards the end of the conversation, Madhuri spoke about her husband Ashneer’s reaction to her Lock Upp journey, revealing that he was happy with the way she carried herself on the show despite her eviction.

“I made a positive impact. I was probably the only person who remained positive. In a game where there were constant fights, I chose to stay calm, avoid negativity and only tried to make people understand things,” she concluded.

Hosted by Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh, Lock Upp streams on Netflix.
