Zaid Darbar has apologised to his wife, Gauahar Khan, after failing to respond when her former boyfriend, Kushal Tandon, made an indirect remark about her on the reality show Alliance. The apology came after fellow contestant Vanshaj Singh told Zaid that Gauahar had faced massive online backlash because of Kushal's comment.

During an episode of the show, Kushal was seen telling Zaid, "Tujhe meri cheezein pasand aati hai" (You like my things), in an apparent jibe linked to Gauahar. Zaid did not respond to the remark and was seen laughing.

The apology came after Vanshaj Singh, who reentered the show as a wildcard contestant, told Zaid that Kushal's remarks had drawn widespread online backlash against Gauahar.

On Sunday, the show's production house, Banijay Asia, shared the clip from from show on Instagram in which Zaid is seen asking Gauahar for forgiveness.

In the clip, Zaid says, "Sometimes a joke ends up going too far. That's exactly what happened with me. I didn't realise it at the time. What Kushal said was very wrong, and I took it too lightly and in the spirit of fun. That was my mistake. I'm sorry, really sorry. I hope you understand who I am and what kind of person I am. I can never intentionally hurt anyone. I'd rather get hurt myself than hurt someone else. That's just the way I am."

Gauahar responded in the comments section and told Zaid not to get drawn into what she called "dirty play". She wrote, "Vanshaj is playing. A bit of fun is okay, because every silly thing does not mean someone gets offended. You are right; don't get swayed by dirty play. Keep rocking, my love."

This was not the first time Gauahar publicly backed Zaid on the show. After Kushal's earlier remark about Zaid liking his things, she had posted a video in support of her husband and wrote, "Killer performance with zero insecurities. The more secure you are, the less offence you take. Not everything needs a knee-jerk reaction. Only the wise know to do better. Proud of you, Zaid Darbar."

Gauahar and Kushal began dating in 2013 after meeting on Bigg Boss 7 and split in 2014. She later married Zaid in 2020, and the couple have two sons, Zehaan and Farwaan.
