This video is old and shows flooding in Karachi, Pakistan.
A widely shared video claims to show flooding in Kerala. It shows a man being swept away by floodwaters. At least 15 people have reportedly died in rain-related incidents across Kerala so far.
An Instagram user shared the video with the caption, “Fresh Flood Crisis Unfolds in Kerala Today: Multiple Areas Inundated Again. Kerala is witnessing a renewed flood scare today as heavy and continuous downpours trigger fresh waterlogging across the state.”

OUR PROBE
Reverse-searching frames from the video led us to the same clip shared by several Pakistani Instagram accounts on August 20, 2025. According to these accounts, the video was from Shahrah-e-Faisal in Karachi, Pakistan.
We also found drone footage of flooding in Karachi uploaded by Pakistani YouTube channel Dekhen Meray Sath on August 19, 2025. It showed waterlogged roads and massive traffic jams. This video featured a billboard on a building with a KFC advertisement. The same billboard with the same ad is visible in the viral video.
The Google Maps Street View of Shahrah-e-Faisal near the Nursery Flyover in Karachi also matches the visuals in the viral video.
According to Al Jazeera and Reuters reports published on August 20, 2025, torrential rain and flooding caused havoc in Karachi and other places in Pakistan. At least 21 people died in these rain-related incidents.
Thus, it is clear that the viral video does not show flooding in Kerala.
