Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday pitched India as a solutions hub and an emerging force in global innovation, saying the country is moving from being a consumer of technology to a provider of solutions.

Speaking at the inauguration of 'Bharat Innovates' in Nice, France, alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, Modi said innovation and inclusion were not at odds with each other.

"Innovation and inclusion are not enemies; they complement each other. Innovation becomes great not because of its valuation, but because of its human impact," he said at the event, which brings together leading startups and venture capital funds from India, France and other countries.

'INNOVATION IN INDIA'S DNA'

PM Modi praised India's youth for working towards solutions that benefit humanity rather than serving narrow commercial interests. "India's youth has a new mindset, one that thinks about the whole of humanity," he said.

The Prime Minister repeatedly asserted that India innovates for the world, with sustainability and inclusivity at the core of its efforts. "India innovates with speed and scale. India innovates for a sustainable future. India innovates for the world," he said.

PM Modi also stressed the importance of human-centric technological development, saying India's approach to innovation was guided by the principle of "Technology for Humanity". He cited India's Digital Public Infrastructure as an example of how technology can be used to deliver inclusive and large-scale public benefits.

Tracing India's innovation heritage, the Prime Minister argued that innovation is embedded in the country's DNA. "For thousands of years, India has shaped the progress of humanity through its contributions to medicine, yoga, mathematics and science," he said.

INDIA'S PUSH FOR INNOVATION

The Prime Minister said his government had taken several steps over the past 12 years to strengthen the country's innovation ecosystem. He also cited the Atal Tinkering Labs programme in schools as an example of taking innovation to the grassroots level.

"From easing the patent filing process to creating incubation networks, from strengthening the startup ecosystem to expanding policy support, we have built a robust innovation ecosystem by taking innovation to the grassroots," he said.

He argued that a series of reforms aimed at boosting innovation had helped transform India's image from a technology adopter to a technology provider. "India is fast becoming a contributor of tech-backed solutions, and not a consumer of solutions," he added.

PM MODI HAILS STARTUP ECOSYSTEM

PM Modi reiterated that India is home to the world's third-largest startup ecosystem and said the country is witnessing a startup revolution driven by its youth.

"You can see 100-125 startups here. But India has a mega pool of more than two lakh such startups. Together, these startups are contributing to the growth of the Indian and global economy," he said.

Calling Bharat Innovates a platform for the world to co-create the next chapter of global innovation with India, he sought deeper collaboration in research, manufacturing, technology development and long-term innovation partnerships.

"Come to India. Work with us. Design in India. Develop in India. And create solutions for the world," the Prime Minister said, positioning India as a destination for innovation-led growth and global problem-solving.
