Cops take Chetan Chaudhary to Pune's Lohagad fort to recreate crime scene
Chetan Chaudhary, 22, co-accused in the Ketan Aggarwal murder case in Pune's Lohagad Fort, has been taken to the site by the police for recreation of the crime scene. The exercise is being treated as important to the investigation, days after a similar reconstruction involving Siya Goyal, the other accused.

Chetan Chaudhary, 22, co-accused in the Ketan Agarwal murder case, was on Wednesday taken to Pune's Lohagad Fort by cops to reconstruct the crime scene as part of the investigation. Dressed in a black, striped T-shirt and white pants, Chetan was seen surrounded by police as he walked up the stairs to the fort.
Siya Goyal, 20, the other co-accused in the case, was also taken to the site on June 28 for reconstruction of the crime scene. She, in collusion with Chetan, killed her fianc Ketan, 25, by pushing him off the fort. During her crime scene reconstruction, the police used a mannequin as part of the exercise. The dummy was pushed down the walls of the Lohagad Fort.
Pune Rural Police will analyse Chetan's gait and use the reconstructed video to compare with the CCTV footage from the fort. Gait analysis is a forensic method used to identify suspects by analysing the way they walk, especially when they cover their faces with a mask, hoodie or helmet to evade facial recognition. Chetan's CCTV footage from the fort showed him wearing a hoodie, with his face concealed behind sunglasses and a mask.
Meanwhile, the police custody of Siya and Chetan has been extended to July 3.
During the court hearing on June 29, investigators said that multiple aspects of the case still need to be examined, including the exact crime location on the fort, deleted digital evidence, and the victim's missing passport.
A police official said during the hearing that Chetan climbed the fort in a hoodie but later removed it, and remained in a black T-shirt. "While leaving, he put on the hoodie again," the investigators added, pointing out that by doing so Chetan believed he would avoid attention. Police said the 22-year-old then returned to Pune on the same scooter.
Last week, investigators also questioned Siya's parents and brother at length and recorded their statements.
Police sources said that Siya and Chetan first attempted to kill Ketan allegedly on June 14. Days prior, they are believed to have conducted a practice run to figure out the execution of their plan.
The investigation so far has revealed alleged online searches, deleted messages and detailed planning before the realtor's killing. Investigators also found that Siya and Chetan searched YouTube and Google for various ways to kill Ketan before deciding pushing him off the Lohagad Fort would be easiest.
According to investigators, Siya and Chetan opted for what they believed was the easiest way instead of risking social isolation and embarassment. Siya allegedly told the police that she did not want to marry Ketan and thought that if he was killed, it would buy her time, at least three years, before she could think of marriage. Her boyfriend Chetan also wanted another two or three years before marrying Siya.
