During the return journey on May 29, the duo reached the Maliyadhaud area, where Chauhan reportedly stopped for a while and asked the guide to continue ahead. When Chauhan failed to catch up after a considerable amount of time, the guide became concerned and returned to look for him.

Despite searching the area, Anand Ram was unable to locate the tourist. After repeated attempts yielded no results, he returned to Khati village later that night and informed Forest Department ranger Dauli Dobhal about the incident.

Following the alert, teams from the police, SDRF and Forest Department were mobilised and launched a joint search operation in the region. Authorities have been combing the trekking route, nearby forested areas and other possible locations where the missing tourist may have gone.

The search operation is being carried out in difficult terrain and has been further complicated by adverse weather conditions in the high-altitude region. Rescue teams are continuing their efforts despite the challenges, officials said.

Police officials stated that all possible angles are being examined, and every effort is being made to trace the missing trekker at the earliest. Local authorities have also been coordinating with villagers and trekking guides familiar with the route to gather any information that could aid the search.

Station House Officer Pratap Singh Nagarkoti said the search operation remains underway and teams are working round the clock to locate Chauhan. Officials have appealed to anyone with information about the missing tourist to immediately contact the authorities.
