UIDAI has waived the Rs 75 fee for updating your Aadhaar-linked email address through its mobile app. The offer is available for six months, but only under specific conditions.

If you've been planning to update the email address linked to your Aadhaar, now is a good time to do it. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has waived the Rs 75 fee for updating an Aadhaar-linked email address through its mobile app.
The move, which came into effect on July 1, 2026, is valid for six months and gives users a chance to update their contact details without paying the usual charge. However, the benefit is available only under certain conditions.
WHAT HAS CHANGED?
Earlier, Aadhaar holders had to pay Rs 75 to update the email address linked to their Aadhaar using the Aadhaar mobile app.
From July 1, 2026, UIDAI has removed this fee, allowing users to update their email ID free of cost. The waiver will remain in place until December 31, 2026.
WHO CAN AVAIL THE FREE UPDATE?
The fee waiver applies only to email address updates made through the Aadhaar mobile app.
If you're updating your email ID using this method during the six-month period, you won't have to pay the earlier Rs 75 service charge. Reports indicate that the waiver is temporary and may be reviewed after December 31, 2026.
WHY SHOULD YOU UPDATE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS?
Keeping your email address linked to Aadhaar up to date can help you receive important notifications and make it easier to access various Aadhaar-related services online.
An updated email ID also helps ensure smoother communication whenever verification or account-related information is sent electronically.
