Delhi SIR FAQs: What happens if you're not home during the BLO visit?
The Election Commission has started the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Delhi from today. If you're wondering what happens when a Booth Level Officer visits your home and finds it locked, here are the key FAQs answered.

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls has begun in Delhi, with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) visiting homes to verify voter details. The month-long exercise aims to update the voter list by correcting errors, removing duplicate or ineligible entries and adding eligible voters who may be missing from the rolls.
One question many Delhi residents have is: What happens if no one is at home when the BLO arrives? Here's a simple guide to the most common Delhi SIR FAQs.
WHAT IS THE DELHI SIR EXERCISE?
The SIR is a voter verification drive conducted by the Election Commission to ensure that Delhi's electoral roll is accurate and up to date.
During the exercise, BLOs visit every household to verify voter details, enrol eligible new voters and identify duplicate, shifted or deceased voters. The house-to-house verification in Delhi runs from June 30 to July 29.
WHAT IF YOU'RE NOT HOME WHEN THE BLO VISITS?
If your house is locked when the BLO visits, your name is not removed from the voter list immediately.
Under the SIR guidelines, the BLO is required to make at least three visits before treating the verification as incomplete. If no one is available, the officer may leave the enumeration form at your home or with the building's security or another designated person so that you can complete it later. They will also return for follow-up visits.
However, SIR officials may not always visit your home. In some cases, they will call you and ask you to visit a designated location to submit the required documents and complete the verification process.
WHAT IF YOU ARE AWAY FOR A LONG TIME?
If you know you won't be at home during the verification period, you don't have to wait for the BLO.
You can fill in and submit the enumeration form online through the Election Commission's voter portal or the Voter Helpline app.
The form can also be submitted offline at designated revision centres such as government offices, schools or polling stations before the deadline.
DO YOU NEED TO SUBMIT DOCUMENTS?
At the enumeration stage, voters are generally not required to submit identity documents along with the form. A signed and completed enumeration form is sufficient.
However, if the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) later seeks verification, documents such as a passport, birth certificate, educational certificate or other approved government records may be requested.
WHAT IF YOU NEVER RECEIVE OR RETURN THE FORM?
Missing the form altogether can create problems.
If you neither receive nor submit the enumeration form before the draft electoral roll is prepared, your name may not appear in the draft or the final voter list.
To avoid this, the Election Commission advises eligible voters to submit the form online or offline even if the BLO could not reach them.

HOW CAN YOU CHECK YOUR DETAILS?
Once the draft electoral roll is published, you can verify your details using your name, EPIC number or constituency information on the Election Commission's voter portal or the Delhi CEO website.
If you spot an error or your name is missing, you can file a claim or objection during the notified correction period.
