81,000 jobs in UP Police department, eligible candidates can apply in phases

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced recruitment for around 81,000 vacancies in the Police Department for the 2026-27 recruitment cycle. The recruitment drive will be conducted in phases, with the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) expected to release detailed notifications for different posts on its official website.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the recruitment process will be conducted in a fair, transparent and smooth manner, adding that the vacancies will provide employment opportunities to thousands of youth while strengthening the state's policing system.

According to the announcement, the recruitment will cover several posts across the police department.

These are expected to include Constable, Sub-Inspector (SI), Jail Warder, Radio Cadre, Computer Operator, Clerk, and other technical and ministerial positions, although the exact post-wise vacancy distribution will be announced in the official notifications.

The Chief Minister said the large-scale recruitment is aimed at modernising the Uttar Pradesh Police and improving law and order by increasing manpower.

"The announcement will create job opportunities for young people and help build a stronger, more modern police force in the state," Adityanath said.

UPPRPB VACANCIES: SELECTION PROCESS

The recruitment process will begin with a Computer-Based Test (CBT), which will be objective in nature. The examination is expected to include questions from General Knowledge, General Hindi, Reasoning, Mental Ability, Numerical Ability and Current Affairs.

Candidates applying for Sub-Inspector posts will also have to answer questions related to Law and the Constitution.

Candidates who qualify in the written examination will be shortlisted for the Physical Standard Test (PST) to verify height, chest (where applicable) and other physical standards prescribed for the respective posts.

Those clearing the PST will have to appear for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which assesses the physical fitness of candidates through running and other prescribed activities.

The qualifying standards will vary depending on the post and category.

The final stages of the recruitment process will include document verification and a medical examination to ensure that candidates meet all eligibility requirements before appointment.
