Dhamaal 4 box office Day 4: Ajay Devgn's film ends first Tuesday on a high note

Actor Ajay Devgn's Dhamaal 4 held its ground on Day 5 as Tuesday offers helped draw more audiences to theatres. The film is now closing in on a big box office milestone.

Actor Ajay Devgn’s Dhamaal 4 ended its first Tuesday on a high note, with Day 5 cumulative sales going past Monday’s tally. The impact of lower ticket prices for discounted Tuesday was visible in the volume of sales, as the film earned Rs 9.50 crore nett in India on its fifth day. The Day 5 numbers took the film’s total India gross to Rs 99.44 crore and its total India nett to Rs 83.25 crore. It is only a matter of a day before the film crosses the Rs 100-crore mark in India.

Overseas, the film collected Rs 1.50 crore on Tuesday, which pushed its total overseas gross to Rs 16 crore. Its worldwide gross now stands at Rs 115.44 crore.

Dhamaal 4 had opened with Rs 14 crore on Day 1, its first Friday, from 10,669 shows and with an overall occupancy of 24%. On Day 2, the first Saturday, the collection rose to Rs 22.50 crore from 10,954 shows, with occupancy at 35 per cent. On Day 3, the first Sunday, the film earned Rs 28.50 crore while playing across 11,481 shows and recording 44 per cent occupancy.

The film then saw a drop on Day 4, its first Monday, when it collected Rs 8.75 crore from 10,598 shows and posted 19% occupancy. On Day 5, it improved to Rs 9.50 crore across 11,077 shows, with occupancy at 20 per cent.

On Tuesday, Dhamaal 4 recorded an overall Hindi 2D occupancy of 20.78 per cent. The occupancy was 9.31 per cent in the morning shows, 19.69 per cent in the afternoon, 22.46 per cent in the evening and 29.31 per cent in the night shows.

Word spreads, more people join the race, misunderstandings pile up, stakes get higher, and chaos follows. On paper, it sounds like classic Dhamaal. In execution, it feels like watching people desperately search for something the audience has already given up on: laughter."

Directed by Indra Kumar, the film released on July 10. It stars Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Jaaved Jaaferi, Sanjay Mishra, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Anjali Anand, Upendra Limaye, Vijay Patkar, Ravi Kishan in key roles. The makers have confirmed that Dhamaal 5 is in the works.
