Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh on August 3 shared a video from Japan in which he is seen struggling to find a roadside dustbin, while praising the country’s cleanliness. The post, shared on Instagram before his Europe tour, shows him picking up ice creams, looking around for a place to throw waste and saying the streets are so clean that not a piece of litter is seen anywhere.
The video also offers a glimpse of the rest of his outing in Japan, from shopping and food to a light moment over not finding a kachra-peti (dustbin). Separately, Dosanjh was recently in the news over his support for students after the Delhi Police’s alleged use of force during a Cockroach Janata Party-led protest march to Parliament against exam irregularities.
The video begins with the 42-year-old buying Japan’s famous ice creams from a general store. He says he had ice creams in fun and games but is unable to find a kachra-peti, or dustbin. He then goes on to show how hungry he is and remarks that Japan is so clean that dustbins themselves seem to have been removed.
The clip ends with Dosanjh buying a ring from a Japanese woman and eating local cuisine. Along with the video, he wrote, “BEFORE EUROPE TOUR JATT EXPLORING BEAUTIFUL JAPAN Jaldi Milde An Europe AURA WORLD TOUR 2026 (sic).”
Earlier, he had also shared glimpses from Tokyo, where he was seen exploring the city’s streets, trying Japanese delicacies, having an ice cream, visiting local shops and recording moments from the outing.
Support for students
Dosanjh recently extended support to students after the Delhi Police’s use of force to disperse thousands of students and youth activists during a CJP-led protest march to Parliament on July 20. The protest was linked to NEET irregularities and demands for education reforms, and the march from Jantar Mantar later saw clashes with security forces.
In a series of Instagram Stories, he urged the authorities to listen to the students and said, “What happened today was very wrong. Students should not have been treated like this. I request the authorities to listen to the students’ demands. The voice of the people is the voice of God (sic).”
He also recalled the backlash he faced when he supported the farmers’ protest and wrote, “Mere Te Already Anti Nationalist Da Tag Baut Vaar Lagg Chuka.. Hun V Mainu Anti-nationalist Keha Jaega. After Kisan Protest.. I faced a Lot of Backlash & Legal Problems which I can’t Even Discuss.. Baki Rab Sab Dekh Reha, Baba Bhalli Karu.”
Its English translation read: “I have already been labelled an ‘anti-national’ many times. Even now, I know I will be called anti-national again. After the farmers’ protest, I faced a lot of backlash and legal problems that I still cannot even discuss. The rest, God is watching everything. May Baba bless everyone.”
The remark referred to the criticism he said he faced during the 2020-21 farmers’ protest, when he had publicly backed the protesters.
