Mouni Roy shuts down trolls, addresses rumours about her sexual orientation
Mouni Roy addressed rumours about her sexual orientation during a YouTube chat after her separation from Suraj Nambiar. She said her female friends and family supported her through the difficult period.

Weeks after announcing her separation from Suraj Nambiar, actor Mouni Roy has spoken about the speculations surrounding her personal life, including her sexual orientation. While addressing trolls targeting her, she mentioned that the most absurd rumour she had heard about herself claimed she was "gay."
In a recent conversation with Monika Sharma on her YouTube channel, Mouni was asked about the biggest rumour she had heard about herself in Bollywood. The actor replied, "Oh, that I am gay."
She also reflected on the period following her separation and said she was fortunate to have a strong support system around her. "I feel very lucky that I have always had friends and family who have stood by me like a rock," the actor added.
Mouni said her female friends had played an important role in helping her through difficult times. "I have always had great girlfriends to support me. They have been there through my good, bad and ugly phases. It is very important to have women like that in your life — the ones who uplift you. My girlfriends are the best," the 40-year-old said.
Mouni, who married Suraj in 2022 after knowing him for four years, parted ways with him in 2026. The separation led to several theories online, despite both Mouni and Suraj issuing statements about it.

You re one of those rare muggle who carry a lil bit of magic wherever they go. May life surprise you in the most beautiful ways, may your heart stay as wonder filled as it is, may the universe keep conspiring in your favour...(star emoji)...@dishapatani...(sic)."
On the professional front, Mouni was recently seen in director David Dhawan’s Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai (2026).
